Christmas Countdown is a small, family-led UK blog written by Linda Garrould from Norfolk. We’ve been writing the site since 2009, and it’s still focused on what it always has been: the season most of us spend the rest of the year planning around — advent calendars, hampers, Christmas markets, gift guides, festive recipes, decorations, family traditions and the practical “what’s open, what’s not” questions of late December. We work with a small number of brands, agencies and tourism boards each year on partnerships our readers will genuinely care about.
For PRs in a hurry: download our one-page media kit (PDF, ~150 KB, September 2026 edition) — strapline, audience numbers, beat list and contact aliases on a single A4.
Who we hear from
We’re best known to teams working on the long lead-in to Christmas. Our regular contacts include:
- Beauty, food and drink advent-calendar brands and the agencies behind their seasonal launches
- Hamper makers (luxury, charity, build-your-own and under-£50)
- UK Christmas-market operators, tourism boards and city promotion teams
- Festive cottage operators, hotel groups and train-line partners running Christmas-break campaigns
- Decorations, lighting and “real-tree” brands looking for honest comparison reviews
- Charity Christmas-campaign teams — every year there are stories worth amplifying
- Magazine subscription teams running Christmas-edition pushes (Country Living, Good Housekeeping, BBC Good Food and similar)
- Booksellers and publishers placing Christmas-themed gift books and recipe titles
If you sit somewhere adjacent — gifting agencies, festive food and drink launches, family-experience days like ice rinks and grottos, anything Stir-up-Sunday or Boxing-Day-walk-shaped — please get in touch.
What we say yes to
Paid advertising, sponsored posts (always clearly disclosed), gifted product reviews of items we’d genuinely use, occasional press visits to Christmas markets and seasonal events, and properly-resourced content collaborations. We’re happy to talk about Awin and Amazon Associates affiliate programmes, exclusive vouchers for our readers, and seasonal campaigns that line up with our editorial calendar — particularly the Christmas-in-July window when most of our planning content publishes.
What we say no to
Anything off-theme, anything we wouldn’t recommend to a friend, gambling, vaping, anything aimed commercially at children, AI-generated product imagery presented as photography, and any request for “do-follow links” outside a clearly disclosed partnership.
The audience, in numbers
Christmas Countdown is a seasonal asset. The bulk of our annual reach lands in the run-up to Christmas itself — late October through Christmas Eve — when readers are actively planning, shopping, baking and booking. An “average month” understates what a Q4 partnership is buying, so we give you the season, the run-in and the search picture on both engines.
Figures from Google Analytics 4, Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools, pulled 19 September 2026; updated each season.
- Six months to 18 September 2026 (GA4): 10,700 sessions, 9,800 users — 70% from organic search, and those search readers engage at 59%.
- Into the season: 5,256 sessions in the 28 days to 17 September, up 19% week on week as the planning season opens — with the peak still ten weeks away.
- Search visibility: around 910,000 Google Search impressions in the six months to 17 September, plus about 116,000 Bing impressions and 3,400 Bing clicks over the last twelve months. Q4 2025 alone brought just under 1,000,000 Google impressions, the strongest week being 22–28 December.
- A readership Google-only plans never see: 59% of our search sessions arrive from Bing and its partners (Edge, Yahoo, DuckDuckGo, Ecosia) against 24% from Google — an unusual profile for a UK lifestyle site, and one a Google-only campaign never reaches.
- Flagship pages you can check yourself on Bing UK: the UK Christmas Markets directory — 140 markets across 12 regions, #1 on Bing UK for “christmas markets uk 2026” (checked 18 September 2026), 62% of visits engaged and readers staying 89 seconds on average; Christmas Delivery Slots — #1 on Bing UK for “christmas delivery slots 2026”, updated within days of each supermarket announcement; How Many Days Until Christmas and its countdown family — top ten on Bing UK for “how many days until christmas” and “100 days until christmas”, carrying the year-round baseline; Best Advent Calendars — 72% of visits engaged, the highest on the site.
- Newsletter: our free Christmas-planning email — roughly weekly through the season, fewer at other times.
- Twitter / X: @xmas321 — a following of around 2,000 UK Christmas readers built up since the site’s earliest years.
Editorial pages hold attention — the markets directory, the delivery-slot guide and the monthly to-do lists keep readers for 40 to 95 seconds — while the countdown utility pages are quick-answer by design and keep the site working all year. Happy to share deeper analytics, page-level numbers or audience breakdowns on request.
