What do you buy children who love Lego?

During the summer we had a brilliant day out at Lego Land at Winsor. My son loves nothing better than constructing as Lego kits and always asks for these for Christmas and his Birthday as well as spending his pocket money on them. With this in mind I’ve put together a brief Lego Gift Guide.

What Lego should you buy if you are not sure what kits a child already has?

If you are buying Lego as a gift and you are not sure which kits the lucky boy or girl already has then it’s probably best to play safe and go for one of the big boxes of general bricks, for example, LEGO 10702 Creative Building Set as this will add nicely to any existing collection of bricks. Lego that comes in the big yellow storage boxes is also a good choice because as you get more lego you need ways to store it, and a system for getting to the right brick quickly.

Finally, if your 7-year-old wanders around singling Everything is Awesome when your part of a team and you’re wondering where on Earth they’ve picked this up from then I can tell you it’s from the Lego Movie. I’m constantly correcting my children, telling them that Awesome is really more of an American term and over here in England, we find it much nicer to say “Everything is splendid when your part of a team”, not that we really understand all this team stuff anyway.
