What Lego should I buy if I don't know which sets they already own?
Buy bricks, not sets. A Lego Classic box never duplicates anything because it is raw material — or choose storage and display accessories, which no Lego household ever has enough of. If you must buy a set, very recent releases are the least likely to be owned already.
Is Lego a good gift for adults?
One of the best. The Botanical, Architecture and Icons ranges are designed for adults — the build is the relaxation and the result is the ornament. They are a reliably safe gift for the adult who ‘has everything’ but enjoys making things.
What age do the Lego age ratings really mean?
Treat them as a minimum for safety (small parts) and a rough guide to patience, not ability. A keen seven-year-old will happily work above their age band with a little help; the 18+ branding on adult sets reflects complexity and style, not difficulty.
How much should I spend on a Lego gift?
There is a genuinely good Lego gift at every price: polybags and minifigures under £10, strong mid-size sets between £20 and £50, and showpiece builds beyond that. Spend on the right kind of set for the builder rather than the biggest box you can afford.
