I was given a copy of this lovely Cookery book to review and the Prawn and Smoked Salmon Terrine immediately caught my eye as a nice simple starter to do on Christmas Day. If your are about to have a big roast lunch you don’t really want anything too heavy as a starter. I always think it’s good idea to have a cold starter as it gets everyone seated at the table and the family under control while you are sorting out the turkey.
Jane’s book is full of recipes that you can ‘do ahead’ so that you can spend more time with your family and guests. I think it will be useful all year round but is especially relevant at Christmas when the focus should be on friends and family rather than being stuck in the kitchen while everyone else is having fun.
