Our September Parish newsletter arrived this morning which is always a good reason to sit down with a cup of coffee and read through the news and events. I noticed that they are already asking for people to form a choir for Christmas. This is to sing at Church Services, carols round the tree and no doubt the traditional door to door Carol Singers.
Door to door Carol Singers are part of Christmas as much as mince pies and Christmas pudding. I must admit that when Carol Singers call at our house just before Christmas as good as they sound I had never appreciated the work and preparation that goes into sounding so professional.
Their rehearsals starts on the 17th September for 1 1/2 hours each Saturday before Christmas which is quite a commitment at this busy time of year. I’d love to join the choir but just don’t have the time with my family and work commitments so maybe it’s something to look forward to when I retire. I’m sure that up and down the country there will be choirs practicing now for Christmas. Knowing that so many people are giving up their time to produce such lovely music at Christmas really makes you appreciate the music we will hear at Church services and concerts over Christmas. I’m certainly looking forward to it and encourage you to attend and support their endeavours.
