Homemade Chocolate for Christmas

In the past there probably wasn’t a single working class household that did not make nearly everything they had, from clothes to food, if you wanted something at a price you could afford, you made it!! I know my Dad made his first bicycle, I don’t think I would know where to start even with google and you tube at my disposal. Nowadays, with cheap imports and manufacturing it would be difficult to make something as cheaply as you can buy it, certainly anything in the non-food line. However, making things has now become a trendy past time to make something unique and maybe luxurious not a means to an end. Given how popular food always is at Christmas and how people are quite happy to over indulge over the festive season, Chocolates are definitely the way forward.

If you are looking to buy chocolates as a present for Christmas, making homemade truffles for a Christmas present for someone is much more personal and creative than going to a branch of Hotel Chocolat, (as nice as Hotel Chocolat is). There are so many finishing touches available now that a nice little bag to put them in complete with a ribbon tie is also a change from the mass produced. You certainly don’t get that on your BOGOF deal from your local supermarket.

If you are unsure how successful your efforts might be start now, get in the practice and test on people who will tell you the truth. It would certainly impress to serve your own handmade chocolates with coffee and a dinner party. Get started by looking at this Jamie Oliver recipe for truffles, he is getting guests to make there own chocolates which is great or as host you maybe want to give any shy friends helping hand by making them for them
