If you are looking for a small, stylish gift for a friend, sister or co-worker then consider a handbag hook. When you sit down in a café you either have to put your handbag on a chair or on the floor. There’s nothing worse than putting your handbag on a dirty floor. There’s also the risk that while you are talking, someone can easily walk off with your handbag. Handbag Hooks help to solve this problem. iAdoreYour Gifts & Jewellery have a range of Handbag Hooks from Handbag Butler from £17.50 including free UK P&P.
Here’s a YouTube video of an interview with the people from Handbag Butler which show you in more detail how these handbag hooks work:

It’s just 40 days until Christmas and the Christmas shopping is well under-way. If you are still looking for some inspiration for a Christmas present for a friend why not consider luxury candles. If you don’t give candles as a Christmas present they will make a lovely addition to your home this Christmas and continue to bring some joy into your home well into the New Year.
I love the natural candles produced by the Melt Candle Company. They have recently been featured in “Country Homes & Interiors”, “Living Etc”, “Homes & gardens”, “Concept for Living” and “The Daily Mail”. Unlike many of the candles you find in high street stores they are made with natural fragrances and oils which are soothing and relaxing.
Just 47 days until Christmas today and things are really picking up this week. Here in the UK the Royal Mail postal strike has been called off which means all the internet retailers can now commence their Christmas trading and try and make up for lost time. Also this week the Christmas lights have been turned switched on in Londons prestigious Oxford Street. We’ve also had bonfire night either on the 5th or on Saturday evening. For me getting bonfire night and the fireworks out of the way feels like a significant milestone has been reached in the run up to Christmas.
Gift buying is difficult at the best of times. However, at Christmas this can be worse due to the number of people you have to buy for. When everyone has such busy lives, it can be difficult to spend the time looking for a gift that fits the person rather than what is just easy for you to buy.
A good place to start is to think what the recipient’s interests are. This may seem an obvious point but how many times have you opened a present to see a gift that resembles the givers tastes or interests, not yours? Christmas is an excellent time to venture into pastures new, after all, you want your present to stand out among the rest! To stand out for the right reasons, why not think of a cooking or creative writing course. I think adults can be really shy at enrolling in a course or evening class simply because they think it will remind them of school. In reality it couldn’t be further from the truth. To begin with everyone on the course will feel apprehensive but you can take comfort that everyone is there is learn a new skill and no-one is looking to trip you up so they can look better than you. It is not school and it is not work, everyone is there because they want to not because there is a mortgage to pay.
If a course or evening class sounds too expensive there are alternatives. If someone has an artistic flair bring this to life with an artist kit. Derwent have a wonderful selection. Personally, I have always wanted to go on a jewellery making course, I am not certain that I would be any good at all at it but I would like to have a go. I would even settle for a book with some basic tools and materials. It would be fun to be creative with something so different to usual that would bring about the same excitement I got with fuzzy felt at the age of 6. People usually grasp the opportunity with both hands to try something new and who knows it could end up the perfect pastime for them in which many other people will share their pleasure, especially if they end up making you a perfect piece of jewellery as a gift for you.
There was a time when I would leap at the opportunity to turn my parents home into something that would make Santa’s grotto look minimalist. In fact, the tree with it’s multi-coloured baubles and tinsel was just the start. After a relatively short space of time the cards would be strung from window to window, and Grandma’s Christmas decorations would adorn every visible service. I distinctly remember at the age of nine that once I had completed all of this that something was still missing and the room was still empty. The answer to this was, of course, streamers. These were the multicoloured sort that of course looked very party like by the time they had been twisted and run from every conceivable edge of the room. It didn’t seem to matter that a pair of sunglasses was needed just to enter the room and the invariably a streamer would end up Dad’s head the minute the central heating kicked in, it was Christmas and decorations were needed!!
Of course, I have changed a lot since then, now our Christmas tree has one colour (but different textured baubles), and there is no tinsel anywhere. All our Christmas lights are also a tasteful clear glow and there are definitely no streamers just silver coloured twig arrangements around the room. I am trying to think when colour went out and everyone started matching their Christmas decorations to their decor. I am certain that the home improvement TV shows of the 1990’s are in part to blame. I have to say I would never want to go back to my multicoloured days but I just hope that children get as much joy from making their home ready for Christmas and that they are not subjected to a pull out of the box, already decorated Christmas tree. If they are, I say bring the back the chintz and the streamers and enjoy every minute before they have their own home and have to consider which colours match their room.
